The Monday Review: Stacking Tree

I don’t think I’m alone in warming to wooden toys.  There’s just something so lovely and reassuring about them.

However, quite often, they do your decor justice, but your children are bored silly with them in a matter of seconds.

I did a survey for a client before I had children on how many mums bought toys to co-ordinate with their living rooms.  The number as far as I was concerned was wrong – plain wrong, because it was so low. But now, as a parent I realise that yes when you’re pregnant you buy the pretty bouncing chair and the uber cool play mat.  But generally those ones are crap – the brightly coloured all singing all dancing noisy, moving, rotating ones are the ones that you have to have – because they are the most entertaining.

Anyway, back on track, because this is a slight breath of fresh air.

We have been lucky to be to sent the Stacking Tree, a gorgeous wooden toy from PlanToys at Hello Baby.

It’s a simple stacking puzzle, but what’s really clever is that which ever angle you slot the branches on at, they twist round to sit in their correct position.  Well, I was impressed!  You can stack the branches in different orders to make different trees depending on your preference, oak, maple, bonsai….for example?

It’s a really nice quiet, wind down, before bed game.  Simple yet engrossing – a challenge for a toddler, and a stress reliever for any adult.  I might steal it for my desk.

Suitable for age 2+ from Hello Baby for £11.99.
