Blogging for awareness of mothers – #Blogladesh

It’s about time I posted about this incredible and inspiring adventure; being taken by three bloggers, and amazing bloggers at that; Sian at Mummy Tips, Josie at Sleep is for the Weak and Eva at NixdMinx.  The bear is waiting for his Cheerios and isn’t sure why, but soon he’ll be old enough to learn about the needs of people in other countries (as well as our own), and those who aren’t as fortunate as us.

There are often times that we should reflect on how lucky we are, and we don’t, but this is one mission that should really make you stop in your tracks.

The three are heading to Bangladesh with Save the Children at the beginning of September after a representative from Save the Children saw Sian speak at CyberMummy .  They’re going to be doing a fantastic job of raising awareness for mothers in Bangladesh and the daily struggles they face.

They will be tweeting and live blogging, and I can only try to begin and imagine what they are going to experience and the emotions they are going to go through.  I am truly inspired by what they are going to do – I am sure all of would say yes we’d go – but really, how would we cope in reality with what we would find?  It takes a huge amount of guts to do what they’re doing – and we can support them by raising awareness from home:

Please, please sign the petition. It’s a Facebook app – so if you’re not on Facebook please sign up so that you can help.
If you are a social media addict you can add the Twibbon to your Twitter and Facebook avatars.
You can add the Blogladesh support badge to your site. You will find the code here.
You can blog about the trip, please do add your post to our linky here.
You can follow the three girls on twitter, @porridgebrain @nixdminx @mummytips

So if you haven’t already, show your support by getting involved and raising awareness for this worthwhile cause.

Nick Clegg is attending the UN summit in New York at the end of September and the aim is to present him with a 100,000 strong petition in support of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG’s) that were set by UN leaders ten years ago. The MDG’s are simple really, to reduce hunger, poverty and disease.  We have till 2015 to meet these goals but in order to get there continued support from UN countries around the world is needed.
Thank you to Sian at Mummy Tips for a large amount of the content in this post, which I’ve borrowed from her recent #Blogladesh posts.

  1. Thank you for your support. You know that I think you are awesome. Don’t keep your bear waiting too long.
    Big hugs.
    xx

    • Aah ditto! He has been a little star today, dragged here there and everywhere doing chores!
Loved Biba and Betty’s flower drawings by the way!
