I am quite comfortable in admitting that I detest Clarks shoes. The are totally and utterly dull and overpriced.
I may be wrong but unless someone gives me scientific proof that a child will only ever walk properly if they are brought up wearing Clarks shoes, then I will continue to refuse to a) queue for a fitting b) pay over the odds for a pair of ugly shoes c) bow to the pressure that only Clarks are good enough for little feet.
I will however spend a considerable amount of time and money on decent, attractive footwear for my child.
In steps (ha ha) Vertbaudet with a very kind offer to review something from their website (of lovely things preggers ladies, the nursery as well as children’s and baby clothing). On the discovery that they have a veritable goldmine of shoes for little boys, I took my time in choosing these leather trainers (£27). So not cheap but worth the spondoolies.
Children have an unnerving talent for knowing what’s in a box before they open it – this rule applied here – and on confirming that they were in fact shoes, they were instantly called ‘good boy shoes’ and worn ever since. Named by the bear, not me I should add.
We’ve been to the park, to messy play, to nursery, to monkey forest and not a scuff on them yet. You see I don’t believe in clothes for best and clothes for hanging around in. Most things wash out and we pick outfits depending on the mood of the morning not what we’re going to be doing.
So if you’ve struggled to find nice and slightly more unusual clothes and shoes for your little tinkers, check out Vertbaudet, I’ll definitely be heading back to buy these…
