A few weeks ago bear and I set off to sunny High Wycombe with Grandma to build a teddy bear at the Build a Bear Workshop!

We’d never been before, passing the shops off as tourist attractions, so I was curious to set foot into this fluffy wonderland.

I was a little concerned that it might be a) a rip off, b) a bit cringy or worse c) boring.

I was totally wrong and, I didn’t want to come home.  It was like a soft toy equivalent to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

We were looked after by the lovely Josh who helped us to pick a bear from about 20 different ones – from actual bears, to dogs, cats, rabbits and others.

We settled on a shaggy dog – I was relieved that bear hadn’t opted for the neon pink option.

Next we headed to the stuffing machine.  On seeing the foot pedal that shot the filling into the dog’s tummy, bear couldn’t quite contain his excitement.

We chose a noise to put inside – a giggle as opposed to the Star Wars sound effects which was a relief.

We put a heart inside and made a wish; I am pretty sentimental at the best of times, but seeing a two year old this excited was a truly magical moment.  If you’re still a doubter, go and you won’t regret it.

osh was amazing at building the story around the teddy bear and his ‘construction’.  Bear was totally engrossed throughout; as were Grandma and I.

After stuffing, we fluffed and brushed, dressed and straightened.

After ‘Bob the Dog’ was fully assembled and clothed in his fireman’s get up, bear got to sit at the computer and print out his birth certificate.

Josh our host had the patience of an absolute saint.

Our bear cost about £30 in total including his outfit.  We spent about forty five minutes at the shop and it was the best fun I’ve had in ages.  Just seeing my little boy’s face as his toy came to life was simply gorgeous.  I could have spent hours choosing outfits – personally I would have chosen the safari outfit which was too cute.

Our trip to the Build a Bear workshop was kindly given to us as a gift.  I stick to the bloggers with integrity code to only review products I truly love.

p.s. A big thank you to Lucy at the Milton Keynes store for swapping our visit to High Wycombe on the morning we came at very short notice!
